Food and drink in The Hague

Through the ages we have eaten many different types of food. The evolution of our food patterns are greatly influenced by technological and social developments. This is certainly true in The Hague! Apply!

What’s up

I am city guide Jacqueline Alders. During a guided tour through The Hague I will tell you about its people and the history of their food and drink.

You will discover what and where inhabitants of The Hague have eaten and drunk on special occasions and in everyday life over the centuries. I will show you how explorations, trade and technical developments have influenced our food and how it is prepared.

The Hague

We joined the “Food and Drink” tour with Jacqueline and very much enjoyed it. We got to discover interesting parts of The Hague which are a bit “off the beaten track” and Jacqueline made us aware also of the “small things” that are worth pointing out, joining the big historic events with everyday life of the inhabitants of The Hague. She is a very knowledgeable guide and shares her knowledge in an enthusiastic yet measured way, putting everything in the historical context, which we found extremely helpful.
